TOP 10 2023

Stewart - ★★★★★

"The Spider-Man movies do it again! This is another epic, bonkers thrilling piece of cinema. Fantastic characters and vocal cast, the animation is outstanding (sometimes stunningly beautiful - see Gwen's emotional reconnection with her father).

There's still a lot of comedy in there, including a dopey villain on the verge of becoming super powerful and there's fun to be had when all the multiple Spider-Man's arrive - but the tone is ultimately a bit darker here which really grounds the film with some emotional gravitas. Don't miss it! And I'm rooting for Miles in part 3!"

"I loved the movie and thought it was really good fun!

I liked when poppy met her sister and I enjoyed the music which made me want to dance.

I would give the movie 5 stars "

Sophie (Age 10) - ★★★★★

"This was such a funny film! Perfect for all the family, it was packed full of adventure and laughs! My favourite part was when they made their own Mariokarts and Toad made a really funny one! Chris Pratt was an amazing Mario and Jack Black was very funny as the baddy! Great soundtrack too!"

Nina (Age 10) - ★★★★★

"This movie is brand new and in cinemas now. Me and Ben saw it with our cousins who were visiting and we all loved it. It is such an adventurous movie and puts you into a completely different world of cats and bears and wolves and even dogs! The villains are such exciting characters and so is the legendary Puss in Boots! The villains star Goldilocks and the three bears with a scary appearance from the Big Bad Wolf. The wishing star and the map are the main points of this movie. But the wishing star can only grant one wish so the heroes and villains are fighting (much like they always do in fairy tales). The heroes star Puss in Boots, Kitty Soft Paws and the therapy dog, Burrito. One of the very ‘I want to rule the world ‘ villains is Big Jack Horner . Puss has died 8 times so he is down to 1 life left. That is why he needs the wishing star. Goldilocks wants a real family and jack wants to rule the world. At the end, Goldilocks decided that she already has the bears as a family so that’s her wish sorted without the wishing star’s help. On the map there is a different path for everybody. Everyone has a dangerous and deathly path. All except for Burrito, who has stuff like the meadow full of posies and the river of relaxation. Which I personally think would be the best path to go through. This is a exciting movie with great sounds and pictures, with everybody’s favourite Puss in Boots song ‘Who is your Favourite Fearless Hero’. It’s a great movie which I recommend to everyone."

8. NIMONA

Stewart - ★★★★★

"A brilliant fantasy adventure with themes of LGBTQ+ representation at its core. The animation is stunning, the jokes hilarious, vocal performances from Moretz and Ahmed spot on! Wonderful characters, love it, watch it!"

Daniel - ★★★★★

"This was an absolutely amazing movie that is defo in my top 10.

The cinematography was stunning and the acting was perfect. My favourite scene was when they dropped the nuclear bomb because of how much tension there was before you could actually hear it. This movie is definitely the best I’ve seen as far as it goes cast wise with some of the greatest actors of our generation starring in the film. Even though this films run time was around 3 hours, because of the amazing pacing it felt like it passed very quickly. My favourite character was J. Robert Oppenheimer because of the great performance by Cillian Murphy.

Overall this was an amazing masterpiece of a film I could recommend to anyone who enjoys movies."

Stewart: ★★★★

"A quietly gorgeous nature fuelled documentary as textile artist Allan Brown is followed over the course of 7 years in his quest of creating a dress made from the nettles he forages in a local forest. The cinematography is lovely as we are soaked in the nature of the forest as Brown begins his vision. Along the way he experiences his own loss of loved one's and finds a sort of emotional release in his almost obsession with creating this dress. Along the way his lovely dog, Molly (who steals every scene she appears in) is by his side.

There isn't an awful lot of psychological insight or query into the effect this streamlined focus on his craft has on his family or career. What we do have is quite an immersive, almost fairytale love letter to nature and it's effect on grief and healing."
