Hilarious and heart breaking, this remarkable road trip will delight and surprise.
Featuring James’ captivating mix of storytelling, comedy and music (as well as Shakespeare’s Hamlet) this remarkable road trip follows his critically acclaimed run at 2023’s Edinburgh Festival, the sell-out show Learning to Fly and The Songs of Friendship Trilogy.
James has been touring his storytelling theatre shows for half his adult life. This year was different though. Returning home after his first stint away, he received a letter that exploded his life, and the tour became a search: for the person who sent it, for a sense of home, and to maybe save a life.

"James Rowland provides a heartfelt, hilarious and moving storytelling hour and a bit with this introspective slice of life. Following some of his relationships with his brother, father and other figures in his life he links it all with some excerpts of Hamlet - a play which he has had more than just a professional link with to his life.
This makes it sound a bit dry but Rowland calls out early on that this is not a therapy session - and thank goodness for that! Rowland's show is impeccably performed by this likeable stage presence and his characterisations are fun and provide plenty of humour and change of pace as the storytelling hour continues.
The link to mental health is handled with gravitas and given scope to take a prominent hold within the show. The extracts of Hamlet meanwhile are wonderful, and given a new perspective that wasn't to be expected. An excellent piece of work."
