Theatre REVIEW: Cinderella - ★★

This Christmas, Dundee Rep Theatre brings you a new musical adaptation of one of the most magical stories ever told….. The clock strikes midnight. Young farmer Ella has big dreams, but her stepbrother and stepsister are more interested in their Insta posts than helping her. Never one to give up hope, Liam shows up and Ella’s world gets a little wilder.

Written and composed by Lynda Radley and Michael John McCarthy, our elemental re-telling of classic Cinderella is a musical festive fairytale for all the family this Christmas.

MIX UP REVIEWS:

Orson (Age 13) - ★★

"I was expecting to enjoy this as it has had good reviews, but I found it very disappointing. The main problem was that nothing was very funny. I have laughed a lot at previous pantomimes but I didn’t do much laughing at this one, and neither did the rest of the audience. There was no slapstick and not nearly enough silliness. It also lacked magic – when we saw Cinderella’s ball dress there was no ‘wow’ factor, and I would think that the little girls in the audience dressed as princesses must have felt disappointed. The fairy godmother was the dead mother of Cinderella, and once again the character lacked any magical feeling. I found Cinderella, who was supposed to be quirky, an annoying character. All in all, a let down."
