She became the first Australian actor to receive the AFI Life Achievement Award honor in 2024.

Kidman began her career in Australia with the 1983 films Bush Christmas and BMX Bandits. She came to international prominence with leading roles in To Die For (1995), Batman Forever (1995), and Practical Magic (1998). She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in the drama The Hours (2002). She was Oscar-nominated for her roles in Moulin Rouge!
