MIX UP REVIEWS:

Stewart - ★★★★★

"This anime takes a very unique take on mental health whilst a young man tries to come to terms with how he bullied a deaf girl when he was younger. The characters in this film are extremely well rounded and there's a lot of characters in here also so it's quite a feat to do everyone justice. The animation is stunning, the music fitting, the characters are all well rounded and likeable and the whole story is very sad but ultimately uplifting. The film really shows how bullying effects everyone and the effects it can have on people as they get older, a very important film."

For more emotionally involving animes you can't go wrong with Your Name. or the classic Grave of the Fireflies. Disney always has some mature themes in their animations, with The Lion King tracing an adult looking back on mistakes in his childhood and finding redemption - it's just he's a lion. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is another take on disability and Bolt has a central friendship that reminiscent of the friendship in A Silent Voice. Meanwhile for more anime TV shows worth checking out Pokemon (most anime voice cast started in here at some point), and more recent ones Erased and Death Note. Hey Arnold! is a classic kids TV show as well that takes a look at school day life.
